Lateral Pressure of Poured Concrete: Arguments from Ultra-Deep Diaphragm Wall (120 m) Construction

Formwork lateral pressures are critical with respect to engineering safety, and laboratory tests often limited by time, height, etc. related early concrete fluid behavior (e.g., thixotropy). In this paper, we propose the use of ultra-deep underground diaphragm walls instead formwork for conventional pressure testing. During construction process, three measurement points were set up in an wall at −40 m, −80 m −100 m. The was divided into 22 casts, development effect time on observed under each casts. We found that characteristic height all approximately 21 average casting speed test 16.846 m/h, fastest 32.148 m/h. A time-dependent phenomenon rapid rise fall observed. This method provides a new way conceptualize pressure, advantages long testing high multiple tests, not only but also age thixotropy concrete.
